A unified framework for fitting Bayesian semiparametric models to arbitrarily censored survival data, including spatially-referenced data

چکیده
A comprehensive, unified approach to modeling arbitrarily censored spatial survival data is presented for the three most commonly-used semiparametric models: proportional hazards, proportional odds, and accelerated failure time. Unlike many other approaches, all manner of censored survival times are simultaneously accommodated including uncensored, interval censored, current-status, left and right censored, and mixtures of these. Left-truncated data are also accommodated leading to models for time-dependent covariates. Both georeferenced (location exactly observed) and areally observed (location known up to a geographic unit such as a county) spatial locations are handled; formal variable selection makes model selection especially easy. Model fit is assessed with conditional Cox-Snell residual plots, and model choice is carried out via LPML and DIC. Baseline survival is modeled with a novel transformed Bernstein polynomial prior. All models are fit via a new function which calls efficient compiled C++ in the R package spBayesSurv. The methodology is broadly illustrated with simulations and real data applications. An important finding is that proportional odds and accelerated failure time models often fit significantly better than the commonly-used proportional hazards model. Spatial Modeling of Censored Survival Data
An important issue in survival data analysis is the identification of risk factors. Some of these factors are identifiable and explainable by presence of some covariates in the Cox proportional hazard model, while the others are unidentifiable or even immeasurable. Spatial correlation of censored survival data is one of these sources that are rarely considered in the literatures. In this paper,...
متن کاملBayesian Two-Sample Prediction with Progressively Type-II Censored Data for Some Lifetime Models
Prediction on the basis of censored data is very important topic in many fields including medical and engineering sciences. In this paper, based on progressive Type-II right censoring scheme, we will discuss Bayesian two-sample prediction. A general form for lifetime model including some well known and useful models such asWeibull and Pareto is considered for obtaining prediction bounds ...
متن کاملA SAS Procedure Based on Mixture Models for Estimating Developmental Trajectories
This article introduces a new SAS procedure written by the authors that analyzes longitudinal data (developmental trajectories) by fitting a mixture model. The TRAJ procedure fits semiparametric (discrete) mixtures of censored normal, Poisson, zero-inflated Poisson, and Bernoulli distributions to longitudinal data. Applications to psychometric scale data, offense counts, and a dichotomous preva...
متن کاملSurvival models in health economic evaluations: balancing fit and parsimony to improve prediction.
Health economic decision models compare costs and health effects of different interventions over the long term and usually incorporate survival data. Since survival is often extrapolated beyond the range of the data, inaccurate model specification can result in very different policy decisions. However, in this area, flexible survival models are rarely considered, and model uncertainty is rarely...
متن کاملBayesian Estimation of Reliability of the Electronic Components Using Censored Data from Weibull Distribution: Different Prior Distributions
The Weibull distribution has been widely used in survival and engineering reliability analysis. In life testing experiments is fairly common practice to terminate the experiment before all the items have failed, that means the data are censored. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to estimate the reliability function of the Weibull distribution with uncensored and censored data by using B...
